The growth of vinyl

Nielsen projects over a 25% growth in vinyl sales this year, which leads me to question: are we going vintage or will I be purchasing new music on casette tapes real soon? Personally, I find the clarity of music on vinyl to be much better sounding than that on a compact disc or any other form. It could be that I like the thought of putting a 7″ record on a player, but that’s my preference. With the increasing popularity of vinyl projected for this year, it makes me wonder how much people are willing to pay for their records. Obviously the CD went obsolete thanks to iTunes and Amazon Music, but I think it’s more of an aesthetic and tangible sort of sale than anything else. With the deep decrease in CD sales because fans can get singles on online music retailers, what IS the reasoning for the increase of vinyl sales? Read here on DMN.
